Getting wasted by yourself

What are your opinions on getting wasted by yourself at home? There seems to be a lot of stigma on getting drunk by yourself - I'm of the opinion that it doesn't fucking matter but I'm wondering what other people's thoughts are.

Update: I'm never drinking again.

Apparently if you're on video chat it counts as not being by yourself....

Also, having a few too many glasses alone is different than using alcohol to fill a void in your life and pushing yourself to that place where you just feel numb to everything, enabling you to not deal with the pain or stressor(s) you are facing in life.

Back when i started working as a manager in restaurant, i use to work long shifts and save a lot of money as never go nowhere. So every week i used to by 1 or 2 bottles of whine and sit on my couch watching movies and getting drunk on expensive wines....loved it!

The girls I date usually bring a lot of bottles of whine too.

an unhealthy coping mechanism

So what I've gathered is: If you drink to be social that's a problem, if you drink to relax that's a problem, if you drink by yourself that's a problem.

You go out, have a few beers with the friends, then kick back with some scotch at night, and in the morning wake up and have a liter of vodka.

This is all fine.

Lower inhibitions. Blame it on anxiety or bein a bitch, but when I drink I do way more even at home. That todo list gets crushed, I love some cleaning and yardwork while jamming out to Queen and sippin a couple brewskis. I start messaging all sorts of friends, call the g-rents and end up with an old crush coming over for the night.

Sober me would just watch netflix or incessantly check stupid social media shit that drinking me doesn't give a fuck about.

It's not about getting drunk and "loosen up"...lol..never neede alcohol to talk to ppl. Personally i enjoy a nice drink, sometimes more than one! I used to buy aged Rum or Whiskey as well and have one too many,,,,i like my company!

Just like alcohol, there is phases of building up tolerance. My first couple times were horrible and I swore to never do it again, but once I overcame the initial phase, my life changed forever (in the best way possible). Don't forget, alcohol is a drug and one of the most dangerous ones out there.

Unless you're Ernest Hemingway or Hunter S. Thompson it's alcoholism.
I don't know about this statement . . . did you see Thompson's interviews later in life? I don't know anyone that wants to end up like that.
