GF wants to move from fashion window design into Loan Servicing.
So, the title covers some of the basics. My GF currently designs window displays for a luxury goods retailer, but a re-org made us move 100 miles so she now puts in a few hundred miles a week driving, which is tiring, and most of it doesn't get reimbursed. She seems in the running to get a job as a loan servicing officer at "Cenlar" which is a bit closer and right on the train line (trust me, for those who don't, train commutes are easier) I did a financial planning call in center right out of school (licences required) and am worried that she's signing up for something worse than she has. For what it's worth, the medical is a big deal, given our relative health situations, covering her under me would be a $10k hit. (has it now, no idea about Cenlar) Does anyone know anything about them?
She worked as a teller in high school, and gets customer service, but I am worried that this is a huge shift fot yhe negative for her. and my experience elsewhere suggested that a lot of these benefit packages are junk. I'm tempted to stump for her at a catering or personal assistant where I work instead, even though I would be "stifling her career" (we have a Cadillac benefits package available from day 1)
From what I've read so far, Cenlar seems like a pretty awful place to work. No work-life balance and bad management. Is Loan Servicing something she's really interested in doing? If so, perhaps try other places. If not, I'm not sure it'd be worth the $10k hit combined with having to deal with your health situations.
