Giving salary info at end of process

Hi everyone. Just been through multiple interviews for an Associate position at a mid-market firm in London (via a headhunter). Apparently at the final stage now and they are deciding between me and one other candidate.

However only now they have asked for detailed info on current salary/bonus which seemed strange to me. Are they using that as an input in their decision making?

Idk how it works in London but I would absolutely not give current salary and bonus info. I would just say you are willing to accept a reasonable offer and see what they come to you with. I think you are correct in that they are trying to see who would be cheaper for them. If you don’t mind making slightly more/the same than you make currently then you could send the info, but I wouldn’t expect them to give you much of a pay bump if you do.
