I have never heard of this chick MIA before yesterday. In fact, I thought MIA was some kind of code word / nickname for Madonna because I saw all the tweets about MIA at the super bowl show.
She's going to get a ton of publicity for this and it will definitely benefit her.
By the way, the faux-outrage here is just so predictable. Does anybody here honestly care at all if somebody gave the finger on TV? It's a football game where the players are screaming obscenities to each other and taunting the entire game. The fans in the stadium are howling obscenities the entire game. Get over it.

I think she stuck up her finger cause that's probably what she does in a normal show... I'm pretty sure the line she was saying when she said that was "I don't give a shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh". I would imagine that during her smaller shows, she can stick up her middle finger. She probably just got used to it. I don't think she was flipping off the US.

I wasn't comparing the two... he acted like he was offended because apparently MIA was flipping HIM off. If he were to go to a punk/metal show, the band would get a lot worse than that. Well I'm talking more about what the punk singers do on stage to the crowd... GG Allin would jack off on stage, cut himself and spit blood into the crowd, and even shit on the stage and throw it in the crowd... now, that's way more extreme, but a typical punk show is gonna have a lot of middle fingers towards the crowd and a lot of insults... it's just part of the act

Do you not understand who a singer is singing to? A singer adresses every member of the audience. Just happens to be compounded by the fact that shes an ugly foreigner whos dad was a terroist.
Two things:
1) I heard about MIA 5 years ago for that 1 song she had and her relationship with Lybia or Lebanon terrorists or some shit. She has been dead for a long long time. This was a stunt to get her back in the spotlight.

2) She really does hate America (I think she has been quoted as saying something similar in the past ie: read her lyrics) and wanted to get herself back into the spotlight.
All comes back to her hating Americ and needing attention. No way in hell this was "part of the show". lolol.

Her lyrics at the time were "I don't give a shhhhhh" is it that hard to understand that the middle finger is probably something she always does to add in there to give off the vibe that she really doesn't give a shit? I know she wasn't supposed to do it for the Super Bowl, but I'm sure if you play enough shows every night and that's what you do when you sing that line, it's gonna become a natural reaction. Just because you're singing to an audience doesn't mean that the lyrics or gestures are meant specifically for them... it's a SHOW.
