GM Throwing Cargo Overboard As Ship Goes Down
Hoping against hope for another bailout from Uncle Sugar, GM is considering dumping the SAAB, Saturn, Pontiac, and Hummer brands in a last ditch effort to polish this bloated turd:

As for truly changing their errant ways, CEO Rick Waggoner says Nuts to that! TRANSPARENCY-SHMARENCY! The company has filed a request with the FAA to block the public's access to the comings and goings of its private jet.
Seems like these scumbags showing up to Washington hat in hand after arriving via private jet went over like a fart in a spacesuit. Rather than go forth and sin no more, they've opted to black out their flight schedules, CIA-style. Nice. They oughta be dropped off at midnight on any corner in Pontiac, Michigan.
Wow... what a mess.
I was in Detroit for a Wings game Wed night. It already looks like people are in panic mode. Auto-worker job signs everywhere, advertisements for job agencies, etc. Not that Detroit is much of a paradise anyways, but it's looking worse than what I've seen before.
SAAB has always been a pitfall. GM went wrong with Cadillac and just now figured out they need to start producing more appealing luxury sedans. The 2008 CTS was a good step in that direction. GM has always had to many similar cars/suv's across platforms. Really Rick could you explain the major differences in a Chevy Cobalt and a Pontiac G5?
The big 3 spent too much time banking on the fact that trucks and SUV's would always save their butts, now they are in trouble because of it.
Automakers largest problem is the UAW...please explain why someone with a GED should make on average $78,000? A shop floor manager making ~$160,000 after all benefits are thrown in...simply rediculous. Thats why Acura and the foreign auto makers have plants in places they like to call "Right-to-Work" states.
They need to shave off the excess and keep the lines that make them money, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC are the ones I can think of. Pontiac simply borrows it's platforms from Holden.
Just my opinion.
A wise man said it best when he said, "Employers get the employees they deserve."
