GMAT before starting as 1st year?

I'm about to graduate and am contemplating taking the GMAT before I start full time as a 1st year at the end of June. I know that I will never want to study once I start working, but I don't want to study now either. I have no idea what I want to do long term and even if b-school is in my future. What do you all suggest or have done ? Do schools view scores differently if they were taken 3 years ago instead of 3 months ago? If I should take it any good ideas on books to buy?

Thanks

I'm in the same position and just took the GMAT about a month and a half ago...Kaplan Premier Live Online 2010 worked well for me; I can't really speak to any of the other prep books

I've been thinking about taking it before I start in July... My only concern is that I am not going to get into a good B-school within 5 years. I come from a state-school and don't have an outstanding GPA so I'm assuming I'm going to have to work longer before I can get in. Therefore I think it would be pointless to take it now. What does everyone think?

Could just take it to see what its like, and you never know, maybe you will be applying to bschools after 4 years.

I took it right after college and didn't do as well as I thought because I just wasn't motivated. I know I was going to do 2 years IB, then 2 years buyside before Bschool would come into play - just seemed so far away. I only had a month and a half between graduation and full time start date - minus a week for hanging out with or saying goodbye to friends, minus another week or two for moving/in and hanging out with the new analyst class, and you're down to 3-4 weeks of half assed study.

With that said, if you CAN find the motivation and discipline, by all means do that. I have a break between jobs now for a month or so to restudy it and it's such a relief not to be working full time and studying.
