GMAT retake?
Just took the GMAT the other weekend and scored a 700 (Q47, V40) and I’m wondering if I should retake to improve my likelihood of getting into a top 20 school or work on other aspects of my application. I studied a lot so any improvement would likely be negligible (maybe 700 to a 710-720).
Post MBA goal is IB or Corp Dev and here’s a little more about my background:
-
majored in finance. 3.92 cumulative GPA from top 25 public university (50-60 overall)
-
pretty solid leadership experience while in undergrad
-
currently employed by F500 bank in operations (no promotions to date, potential for 1 prior to matriculation)
-
working on improving EC involvement currently
700 is probably fine for T20 but assuming you aren’t a URM you are going to need 10-30pts higher for M7/T15
Assuming you have at least 3 years work experience by matriculation.
If you are smart enough to get a 700, you are smart enough to get a 720. It's stupid, but the 20 point difference will probably boost your odds of getting into a T10-T20 by 25%. Worth it.
Try taking the GRE instead
