Since Covid hit, I have abstained from going to gyms and have really only gone to 1 gym as well as training at home.
My parents got their 2nd dose of the vaccine yesterday, so now I can finally go to the gym to workout in peace, keeping in mind that I won't kill my parents from catching Covid. I still haven't been able to get my shot yet, even though I am a phase 1a healthcare worker.
I'm really just going to my Muay Thai gym to hit the bags though. I really miss it. We are a team and I'm really close to the fighters. It has sucked more than anything not to train with them. The gym has also grown to many members, which has pushed me away from training with everyone as I don't want to kill my parents inadvertently.
Overall, I have felt a lot of waste paying for all of these places for most of last year, but I want them to be open when I am ready to train again, which is tomorrow. I know my Muay Thai coach will give me a big "wtf - good to see you," tomorrow.
Time to dominate the heavy bag in the morning. Probably a jump rope session and heavy bag.

I love to jump rope but it has had a negative impact on my knees. I had to take a day off today, as my body was telling me, "you are a fucking moron for jumping rope when your knees feel sore." I may skip the rope one more day and stick with lower impact cardio stuff. I probably should stop jumping rope until my knees completely better but I can be kind of impatient with exercise.

5RM max with dumbbells? I was able to get up to 105s, but my gym only goes up to 100s so it was a very shady setup of bands and 2.5 pound plates lol
How do you like the healthcare job? How does it compare to other roles you have had in the past?
It’s pretty much the toughest and most rewarding position I’ve had. It’s for my parents in their 80s - they live in an independent villa at the senior living facility.
I found finance to be much easier.
I’ve worked in a variety of other roles such as a lumberjack in Canada for a couple months, at a sugar shack collecting maple sap in the forest, management consulting, corporate finance, automotive analytics, and roles with the department of defense. I’ve also interned at hospitals doing neuroscience analytics.
Caregiver is tough because you have to try to control people who can’t control themselves. My mom has severe dementia. She still remembers me more than any other person, but needs a lot of help. I’d rather care for her than put her in a memory care facility where she would go to die.
