Going to buyside after 6 months - can bank comment on performance to background check agency?

I want to resign to go to buy-side after 7 months of IBD M&A; contract with buy side firm is signed but says it is subject to successful background checks. I will only resign in 2 months and I put in the background check agency that they can only contact my current employer after I resign (in 2 months).

I know that the background check agency asks about performance etc (in addition to dates, position, salary). Is there any chance my current bank (bulge bracket) will comment on my performance to the background check agency?

If so, is there a possibility that I will get a poor performance feedback because I resigned so early?

Wouldn't want to resign from IBD only to get back feedback and buyside firm cancels my offer (because of not successful background check)

Thanks!

meant to say:

''Wouldn't want to resign from IBD only to get bad feedback and buyside firm cancels my offer (because of not successful background check)''

Thanks! I also thought that banks have a policy of not giving any performance feedback to these background agencies (they are not getting anything out of it) and only confirm dates/position?

Yeah that's my understanding as well. For their contact info I usually just give it to the receptionist/general phone number. They'll just confirm the dates and position as they won't know anything about performance anyways. They might ask for a boss or something, but you can put whoever - even a 2nd year analyst or an associate or anyone really. Even then they'll just confirm dates and position.

I'd be shocked if you had an issue.
