Goldman Sachs Background Checks on Foreign Companies?
Hi,
I recently received a Full-time offer from Goldman Sachs and am currently going through their background check process (the 3rd party background check company is called HR Workways or CARCO,, whatever). I'm clear of any criminal records or drug tests, but the only thing I am concerned about is one of my past internship experience at a company in Japan. The thing is, I had a pretty bad relationship with my manager, who actually gave me a pretty bad employee rating after the end of the internship. I put the manager's phone number anyway on the background check application,, but I am 99% sure that if they call him, he won't say good things about me.
For those who have gone through GS background check process,, Do they actually contact employers in foreign companies? I mean the time difference between Japan and US is like 13 hours, so I can't imagine someone from the background check company waking up in the middle of night and running references... Has anyone had this problem??
Thanks
When I had a background check for a BB (GS/MS/JP), they called all my former employers to confirm that I have worked there. I don't think they care if you had a bad relationship with your previous manager in my opinion, not everyone gets along with each other.
They usually ask the title of you job and the dates you worked. Other questions can be why you left and what your salary was, but those are usually optional and not mandatory if the manager does not want to disclose the information.
I just got a full time analyst position. However all my credit cards are past due up to 16000 because I have to do anything possible to pay for my tuition. Will they withdraw their offer because of this?
Not sure if serious but no, high debt and low credit will not keep you from an FT offer. You credit history was not part of the interview and hiring process (I know a handful of kids in similar situations)
