Goldman Sachs Credit Check (Background Investigation)

Hi All,

I did not really get any answers the last time I posted this question but I will try it again. I received a phone call a few days ago stating that I had cleared Goldman's background check process for a first year analyst position. My question involves the credit check which I believe is supposed to be a part of the background check process. Does anyone know if the credit check is conducted as part of the background check procedure? Or is it a separate process which is done afterword? When a person passes the background check does that mean they have also passed the credit check?

The reason I ask is that I have not had any credit inquiries on my credit report. (I subscribe to a website that monitors my credit and will tell me if my report has been pulled and by whom it was pulled. )

Basically, I just want to see if there are still more hurdles to clear before I can start believing that I will actually be starting at Goldman.

Thanks

This is a blurb from my credit check site, maybe this is why. Read the last line:

'Does checking my own credit hurt me?No. This is one of the most common myths about credit. When someone looks at your Credit Report for a reason other than making a credit decision - like when you check your own credit, or an employer does a background check - that's called a "soft inquiry". Soft inquiries don't show up on your credit report, and don't impact your score. '

Perhaps it didn't show up?

This may not be it, but...

They do what's called a "soft pull" so you wont know when they pull your credit, sunshine. They won't be able to see your credit score number; only if you have any judgments, liens, and unpaid bills. (30's, 60's, and 90 day late payments dont show up).

I did tell them about it beforehand. When I sent in all of my background information I included an addendum that disclosed the bankruptcy, the reasons behind the bankruptcy and the discharge date. No one has said anything regarding it thusfar so I'm not sure if they have looked at it.

Tell them to be nice to you because you wouldn't go bankrupt if you had an Uncle who could bail you out like Uncle Sam did for some banks.

No one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions; he had money as well.

haha update to all....I got a call this morning telling me that I have cleared their background check and my start date is at the end of Sept. Guess the bankruptcy did not influence their decision.

Does anyone know if the credit check is considered part of the background check or if it is something separate that also needs to be cleared? I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT I AM IN the clear before I start relying on this job being here in two weeks. Do they typically perform the credit check after the background check?
