Good blogs / sites?
Seems like the internet has gotten lamer recently.
Dealbreaker seems to be run by people who aren't even in finance anymore. Leveraged sellout / Epicurean dealmaker type blogs don't seem to exist anymore.
Seems like most of the online finance type content is on instagram now with people like @ebitdad and @notyourfathersbroker .
What are your guys favorite sites / blogs outside of mainstream content (WSJ, Alphaville, etc.) ?
Doesn't have to be finance related. I like slatestarcodex and Damodaran's blog.
EDIT:
I know about Pro Rata, Matt Levine, Termsheet, etc... Looking for something a bit more fun or thought-provoking
matt levine
I think at times it is valuable to stay away from commentaries and focus on the source.
Sometimes I feel like I pick up the news and only hear chatter about chatter. What is this, a copy of a copy of life? I don't want that. Give me the original.
Other than the guys on Bloomberg (Levine, Ritholtz, Bershidsky, McArdle) I like Ben Kabak's 2nd Ave Sagas ( http://secondavenuesagas.com/ )It's nerdy NYC transit infastructure, but well written. FiveThirtyEight is also interesting. I really do miss Gothamist for hyper-local trash.
What are your favourite websites? (Originally Posted: 06/07/2016)
Forgive me this topic has already been done before but I think some people here can also benefit. Since browsing this site, I came across two websites that had some nice info and thought it would be great if people here could share some of their favourites.
It can be any site you find interesting (no rude stuff) that you often visit like WSO.
I'll start with : WSO (obviously first thing on anyone's list ;) Tradingview Forexfactory Healthchatrooms
Disclaimer: I don't know the rules about advertising other sites but I just want to state that I do not own nor am I a member of any relevance to these sites.
Check out 300financegurus.com. It features interviews with finance professionals and has a lot of good insights
Looks pretty decent, I look forward to reading more.
Pornhub
Make sure you use office wifi when browsing, can't have any data overages on my personal cell.
kinda funny

Rather self explanatory title.
Zerohedge, MacroMan, The Coscience of a Liberal (Krugman) are rather common answers but what else do you guys read?
I keep an eye on ''mainly macro'' written by an Oxford prof. http://mainlymacro.blogspot.pt/
rbnenergy (for all the energy guys)
There are lots more... I would definitely mention Calculated Risk and FTAV.

What are your favorite sites for interesting articles/videos/etc about things other than finance?
For instance, I like bigthink.com, intelligencesquared.com
I like watching the Ted videos on YouTube. Some of the topics I do not care for, but most of the videos are interesting.
I overall use Youtube for music. I use facebook and lately overstock.com for shopping
techcrunch.com for tech news clublandlv.com for dubstep and trap music couchtuner.eu for newer TV shows
Quora - A better Yahoo! Answers
jackthreads.com -- best clothes/shoes site for big discount
2dopeboyz.com -- great site for underground rap
Almost all of their "deals" can be found cheaper elsewhere. Their in-house brand, Goodale, is heavily "marked-down," but JackThreads is the only place you can buy it and it's never sold at "retail." They use the same artificial mark-down for lots of other brands.
Gilt is superior in every way. They actually have quality items with real mark-downs. 6pm.com is also good for finding deals.
Drudge throughout the day since I can scan for about 10 seconds to see whats going on & if anythings interesting Misc
realgm.com - because basketball is awesome :D
www.stumbleupon.com
autoblog, gq, esquire, uncrate, google news, dealbreaker, abovethelaw
NY Times, ESPN
If you're looking for humor, I like cracked. Also, a good sports/comedy combo is sportspickle.
was big into GenMay and the Misc but they seem to have lost some appeal.
TechCrunch ESPN Barstoolsports deadspin androidcentral

Although www.grantland.com comes close. I love their columns
Above The Law NY Post The Real Deal Venture Beat Bleacher Report Jalopnik

Brazzers.

reddit- everything random Amazon- I like having my toiletries and other random shit shipped too me for cheaper than going to the store Pandora- just easy for music
Amazon Grooveshark 9gag Tumblr
Thoughtcatalog
Reddit, Amazon, Imgur.com, Youtube, footytube/room, and Engadget. Lately, constantly checking Verizonwireless.com for Galaxy S4 updates.
Mostly reddit.
Definitely Reddit.
I've been drifting away from Pandora as of late because of the frequency of ads (especially on the app). Using 8tracks. Though you may not get the best variety of quality playlist since the community seems to be pretty young, the lack of commercials is great.

Zerohedge is interesting, if a little sensationalist from time to time.
What Websites,Vlogs,Twitter,Blogs, etc. do you follow? Making the most of the Internet! (Originally Posted: 08/29/2010)
I'm trying to put together a list of websites, reviews, YouTube accounts/vblogs, twitter streams, forums, e-newsletters and blogs to follow. Areas of interest are business, economics, finance (especially financial markets), politics and anything genuinely funny, witty or educational in general.
Not just to get the latest news, but to learn from and to stimulate my brain. For example, I currently follow the two prominent classical liberal think thanks in Australia, Knowledge@Wharton, Peter Schiff's YouTube vblog, Keith R. McCullough's former "Virtual Hedge Fund" investment blog, Reserve Bank of Australia's media releases, publications, speeches and statistics, etc etc. Basically anything interesting, educational and/or stimulating.
So what/who do you keep track of online? I want to make the absolute most of all the great information/resources available online.
I am in UK. I follow:
FT.com (for facts) Economist.com (for views) - they have lot of interesting videos / blogs etc Dealbreaker.com Efinancialcareers.co.uk (News section and the Answers section) News.bbc.co.uk Dealbook (NYT) Wallstreetoasis
If you can follow all the above regularly, you'll very much be in the loop. Follow their twitter/rss whatever but they should be enough.
Good luck!

pretty sure you'd find what you're looking for in that thread.
and also:

well worth a look. Only one blog published a day, so not too much effort to follow. They've also got this dictionary of business and finance terms that has everything you could need in, as well as some fascinating interviews and Best Practice articles.
Everything you could need, except for up-to-the-minute news. But who doesn't use the FT for that?

YCharts is my favorite place to get data, but you need to subscription to it.
I put together a LEI index for my Sr. Analyst last week and have all the indicators on file and could just send em to you if you let me know which ones you need.
