Good questions to ask to HR recruiters
I am in a position of being able to ask questions to a full time recruiter at a MM bank in Europe. The position is for an internship and I don't know anyone currently working there. Do you have experience talking with recruiters before applying? What kind of questions have you asked regarding the position/company?
Honestly, I rarely ever speak to HR-side recruiters prior to or during the application process. The reason being that they can't really help much. I've found that speaking to current analysts or associates at least gives you some internal insight into the "fit" of the firm, maybe their projects or investing style, and whether they have preferences for people with certain backgrounds. Also, current employees are able to actually refer you, whereas HR-side recruiters are just there to facilitate the application process. That being said, since you have the opportunity to speak with them anyways, I'd ask questions about the role progression/mobility within the company, how the teams are set up, and what the hiring process looks like.
