Google Integrates Wallet Into Gmail
You can now send money as an attachment. The whole Google I/O event wrapped up today and left us some nifty little tidbits.
In the coming weeks and months, a dollar sign will start popping in Gmail accounts of people who already use Google Wallet, and a quick click lets users define the recipient and the amount they’d like to send along as an attachment. Since all of these transactions run through Google Wallet, the usual caveats are in place.
You can still send over funds from a connected bank account, but those who prefer to pay with credit or debit cards are subject to an additional 2.9 percent fee tacked on.
You also need to be over 18 to take part in the funding fun, though.
Google has flopped with Google Wallet, and has come back to clean up their mess. Google+ is getting a makeover, along with a myriad of other Google features such as Hangout and Maps.
What do you guys think? I have a feeling that Google is slowly becoming a late-blooming Apple. They just need to reconfigure Android into a more closed malware free iOS environment, update their interfaces to anything besides the current child-like sweaty OS, and step up their device designs.
Google is getting into some new markets, which market do you guys think Google will enter into next, or which market do you think they will seek to stress and expand?

Honestly THANK GOD for this, I HATE PayPal, and I despise anyone who works there. I can't tell you how many thousands I've lost due to fraudulent buyers/sellers there are. PayPal needs to die, I don't know why they are often the sole payment method on websites I actually like.

Will you use Google Wallet via Email? or at all?
"Google has flopped and come back to clean up their mess."Quite possibly the single most ridiculous sentence ever posted on this forum.
Google is the most powerful company on the planet. Crazy how they are going to take over online payments now...
I'm speaking on terms of Google Wallet. It hasn't gained traction, but this update and expansion initiative changes that.
This sounds really cool and I can see myself using it
While I think the Wallet concept clearly hasn't taken off, I don't know if I would say that Google flopped with it. I haven't followed the story very closely but, if I recall, the lack of adoption had a lot to do with a couple uncontrollable factors like properly equipped phones and the actual carriers themselves.
In some ways I think the idea was just a bit early, so I think integrating it into Gmail might help fix that.
Regards
Google is much more powerful than you realize...
As far as Android goes... the best part about it is that is it far from a closed, iOS type environment. You are obviously not an Android user, so I'll tell you that the best part (and the biggest competitive advantage Android has over iOS) is how open it actually is. You can have your phone/tablet do anything and look any way that you want. You aren't limited by being locked into the same OS and same features that everyone else has. I agree with you that Android has not been as smooth as iOS in the past, but the amount of features has for a long time far surpassed anything that iOS has offered. With the new phones, the OS is much smoother and the phones look much nicer. I could see a lot of iPhone users who like the look of the iPhone switching to something like the HTC One when the iPhone 5s is a flop.
I also don't agree that Google wallet was a flop. I think at this point it was simply ahead of its time. I personally loved the idea when it came out and can't wait until I can actually start using it places other than online. Google has slowly started connecting everything about people's lives under one account in ways that FB wishes it could and I don't see them stopping soon. I don't use Google +, but if it ever takes off then Google will be closer to its goal of world domination.
Ranted for too long. As to the actual post, I think it is a great idea. I agree that it is finally time something brought paypal to its knees and I hope this will serve that purpose. If Google can succeed in getting people to use this ans Google wallet, the sky is the limit for them.
might be slightly ahead of its time, i like the idea, but without some web security 2.0 i'll be staying with my bank method for now
