Google v Amazon v Accenture offers
I'm currently a senior in undergrad, finishing up in a few months. I've been interested in consulting for quite some time. Interviewed with several top firms in sep/Oct but didn't receive any offers so I thought my shot at consulting was done.
Recently interviewed with several tech companies, Amazon & Google and have offers for their entry level positions(amzn is an entry product manager role, goog is their entry customer service adwords role)
I just heard back from a tier 2 consulting firm I'd applied to ages ago (Accenture) strategy and am now considering my options. I want to definitely get my MBA in a few years and possibly end up in tech corporate strategy group.
Would love to hear advice on what would give me the best exit and opportunities for school.
PM role at Amazon is way better than customer service at Google or anything at Accenture for exit opps and MBA.
Is the Amazon role as a brand specialist? I just had to go through the same process with Amazon vs. IBM CbD.
Yes Amazon is for brand specialist- that's the title of the role, but you operate in a product manager role, running a section of their business as you know. I was thinking Accenture could be a better exit/experience overall...
I think the roles are different enough that this is not necessarily apples to apples. You have to make a pros cons list. I also believe the Amazon and ACN roles are both better than the Google role, as it sounds like you get less responsibility with Google (obviously correct me if I'm wrong.)
Key questions to ask are: Do you like travel? Could you specialize yourself in tech strategy at ACN? Do you have any roots in Seattle / would you want to live there? Where would you be based at ACN? Based on my Amazon offer, they will pay better than ACN, are you willing to give up 20k over two years? Will ACN pay for business school? Amazon is thinking about doing that within the next few years but they don't right now.
I would also talk to some business school admissions connections to see if they inherently value one role over another.
You have some great options here, think everything through and you will be just fine.
