GoPro & Video Editing Software Recommendations?
I'm starting a little side project doing a YouTube series of sort of ride-along / walk-through videos of real estate rehabs. Like Gabe DeSilva but for Chicago multifamilys. Any of you guys familiar with videography? What kind of camera would be best for this? Guessing GoPro? Which type is best? Is there a good stabilizer for when holding it by hand? Also need one for the dashboard.
What kind of software is good? Any good alternatives to iMovie? Preferably for Windows.
Thanks friends
And do you think we need a boom or clip-on mic?
As far as recording is concerned, no. I don't know. But as for editing, I have used sony vegas pro many times in the past and had no problem making basic edits. It shouldn't be hard to find a cracked version online. I have heard good things about adobe premier pro, and I think that it is better than sony vegas. It should also be easy to find a cracked version of premier pro online if you want to go with that instead
The GoPro is not the best option for this kind of shooting. A camera from Canon or Sony with good stabilization and high quality would be good for you. As far as I know, bloggers who shoot reviews often use a Canon EOS R6 camera. Its characteristics allow you to create high-quality content. As for video editing, it is important to choose a program that meets your editing needs. If you are not ready to pay for a subscription to a program to edit your videos, you can choose one of the free programs at https://www.movavi.com/learning-portal/free-video-editing-software-no-watermark.html. In addition to good functionality, they leave no watermarks on the final product.
Sony for video and canon for flicks. I’ve used premiere pro, Final Cut Pro, good old iMovie. For what you need, final cut will do, even that might be a bit much. Haven’t used go pro in a few years, they’re good for wide angle action shots otherwise use a Sony that can go up 120 4k fps. Get a small camera that fits on a hand held gimbal ie dji ronin. With all that you’ll have some creamy shots and can edit relatively easily.
If I may recommend it - check out DaVinci Resolve. It's actually free if I'm not mistaken, and very comprehensive. I was the marketing chair for our fraternity, so when we'd do recruiting events and formals and shit, I'd get a couple of my friends who had drones to take the shots. I'd then be the one doing all the editing and the outreach and always used that program. If I can find some examples I'll PM you, but highly recommend DR18 (the newest edition).
If I put significant time into it, videos would come out looking professional-grade. Editing does a WORLD of difference, and I was able to pick up some skills. Unfortuantley, haven't really tapped into those in my career yet, unless a private equity firm needs a beach week hype video LOL
Camera + video editing software - talk to me. I live and breath this stuff daily. I’m creating an online course in Lev fin, so my product is literally a video (in some respects).
Sony A7 IV camera $2,800
Adobe Premiere Pro - industry standard for video editing
Motion Array / Adobe After Effects - I’d recommend adding in some motion graphics. After Effects is known as the hardest one, not for faint of heart - so just buy a subscription to Motion Array and download nice templates and presets. But for me personally - expertise in AE is key.
You also need a high powered computer FYI
Happy to discuss offline - I love this stuff. DM me if u want (and any video editing or motion graphics ppl for that matter!)
