Got a second round interview for Risk Analyst position at a BB
Hey guys,
I graduated college last year from a state school. Lowish GPA, entered into a sales type of role right out of college. I knew I wanted to be an Analyst (Hey, I know its not IB, but I'm trying), but I just didn't have the credentials. I also really just didn't give much thought into life after college.
After a ton, and I mean A TON, of networking and talking to anyone and everyone within my network I finally have some traction.
My second interview should be this week or beginning of next week. The job description really doesn't say you need to know ANYTHING technical and the recruiter assured me that they want to groom someone from the bottom up. I don't have much technical knowledge and I'm a little scared I should come into this interview knowing some basics.
Does anyone have any idea on where I can start looking to gain knowledge on some technical questions if they were to ask them?
Also, for the behavioral or "fit" questions. Which I believe will be most of my interview, does anyone have any experience in a Risk Analyst type of interview?

When I interviewed for a P&L / valuation role once, it apparently involved some risk reporting. I was asked if I knew anything about risk so I would imagine knowing some risk concepts like Value at Risk and a flurry of other ratios. Look this stuff up on Investopedia or Wiki. Try looking at interview questions on Glassdoor if it's a bigger firm there might be some experiences here. Of course if you subscribe to WSO then do look here for a company review if you haven't already. I hope you've googled this too. I was asked if I knew about hedging strategies as well. They also wanted some heavy Excel skills including VBA.
It's a big bank. Think GS, UBS, JPM, CS. There are some experiences here but I couldn't really find exactly what I was looking for.
There is a bunch of experiences on glassdoor and they range from pretty technical interviews to much more behavioral to see if you are a good fit. I hope i'm more on the behavioral side, but I also would definitely want to be prepared if they throw some technical questions out there to me. I will look up the terms you discussed.
If anyone has any good behavioral questions they were asked or anymore good technical terms I should be studying up on please chime in! thanks
