Got an Internship offer. Need advice.
I’m a rising junior at a west coast non-target. After some networking through the school year, I got an offer at a tiny firm that invests in distressed real estate. They also do lending. The title is business development intern.
They said that I would help with going to properties with members of the team, and get exposure to deals and acquisitions. However, they also want me to help reach out to people for their lending team (cold calling and emailing). I’m getting paid, and they are players in the area of where I go to school so I could continue part time during next year.
You guys think this is a good gig for maybe landing a REPE or development internship next summer? Sorry for the bad formatting. This is my second post on this forum. Thanks so much.
I would take it. It's relevant experience in the field you want to be in and getting an internship at a reputable firm on your resume is always better than having nothing.
I would bet you are going to do mostly cold calling, and that they just added in the other stuff to make it look better. I’d still take it if you have no other great options, but definitely make an effort to expose yourself to the deals. Hope I’m wrong
Sadly, a lot of the firms I networked with through the school year didn’t have internships this summer because of covid. I accepted the offer. Hopefully they didn’t sugarcoat it. Thanks for the help.
