Got asked if I knew someone who's being considered for a job, said no, but actually do!

Ok so I'm currently doing an internship on the trading floor of a BB. A few vacant positions soon have to be filled and at the moment, everyone is passing around CVs to each other.

A trader came up to me today to ask me if I knew this guy - he hands me over the CV. The guy did his bachelor's degree at the same university as me so he figured he could ask me. Now right then and there I couldn't for the life of me remember if I knew him, I was right in the middle of something and the name is quite typical so I said NO I didn't know him.

I realized when I got home later that night that I actually DO KNOW him. We played sports together for multiple years back when we were young and we would just say HI when we'd cross each others path at university.

Should I go back to the trader tomorrow and say that I actually do know him, not professionally but that yeah I know who he is. I could say I couldn't for the life of me place his name yesterday...or something.

He's actually a nice guy.

Dunno if I'm taking this way too seriously or what
