Govt agency delay cost me my buyside internship..what now?

Hey everyone. As some of you have heard, asylum applications have recently skyrocketed due to tighter immigration controls. Why am I saying this? Well the government office that handles those applications also approves temporary work authorizations for international students. Long story short—most of us are fucked right now and have gotten offers rescinded.

My question is: how do you go about this? I’m tempted to include something like ‘accepted internship offer from xxx fund but had offer rescinded due to govt processing delay’ on my resume just so the analyst who reads it doesn’t think I´m stupid enough to apply to a buyside/top IB job without even having had a summer internship. Should I just come to terms with the fact that I just won´t stand a chance at the interviews I was looking at and will have to look for jobs that are not as competitive? Full disclosure: I am obviously annoyed by the situation but am genuinely asking for advice here.
