GPA - 3.5 econ or 3.0 double math / econ major better?

What's Better:

A 3.5 GPA in Econ
or
A 3.0 GPA in Math and Econ Double Major

I would say the second is much harder and shows a lot more work, but would one get dinged because of this?

Any Thoughts?

how much harder is it to get a good gpa in 4 econ classes per semester vs 2 econ and 2 math per semester? Its not like you double up on courseload in a single semester when you double major

Yeah seriously. My upper level math courses were graded on a much more generous curve than any of my econ courses. Sure the material was harder to learn, but ultimately, so long as you put in the work, a solid grade was all but guaranteed. People tend to overestimate the effect having a more difficult major has on your gpa.

A math major is no excuse for a 3.0.
