GPA drops and how do I change on resume?
So I have been sending out networking resumes to people in a few MM and BB shops for a while with a 3.5 GPA. However, after this term my GPA drops to 3.4. My question is, if I change my GPA on my resume to 3.4 on my formal application to a specific firm who I have networked before with a 3.5, would that raise questions? So HR would say, "Hey that's interesting, on this resume he has a 3.4 and on the other one he lists 3.5. Is something fishy happening here?"
How should I deal with the situation? Keep the 3.5, change it to 3.4, or email every recruiting teams I've approached with an explanation letter?
Change it to a 3.4 and list it as a 3.4 on future applications... if you move forward they will ask for an updated resume. HR gets that GPA changes
Do you think I should email an updated resume to my networks?
No. People's GPAs change every semester. Don't email a new one every semester.
Couldn't this be a potential problem though? Some BB/MM banks have 3.5 GPA as the cutoff value.
TBF that's my concern too. I'm tempted to just leave a 3.5 there and if they ask I'll just they I forgot to update, but that sounds risky tho
That wouldn't help at all though. HR would just ding you later in the process which would be more disappointing for you.
Guys, at some point you need to fill out an online application for practically any job. Make sure that the resume you submit there is correct for the date it was submitted. But no, for networking purposes you don't resend every time your GPA moves.
