GPA Post-banking
Is it typical to include your GPA on your resume after a stint as an IB analyst? Do PE/HF/Corporate ask for GPA?
I have an offer to return to a BB and am chillin hard my senior year. My GPA not so chillin, not going to grad school so I dont care about that but should I be worried about future employers?
Not in danger of failing or anything, but maybe some C's
Yes, it matters. Don't slack off
Relax and enjoy life. Don't let the GPA crash too hard, but to be serious, most people don't really care about your GPA after that first job. So when you're an analyst and looking to do PE, they know you got into the bank/group whatever. They'll wonder if you are a a good fit and can model/powerpoint to their requirements instead of, say wondering why your GPA in college three years ago (I'm looking into the future here) is not a 4.0.
You won't get too many years like this, so enjoy it. Life is long. You've got a job in a tough markets (congrats). Don't fail, and go and explore/have some fun.
Good Luck
two types of people - those who followed structured paths set by others and those who create paths themselves
if you fall in the first group you will probably need the GPA for your whole career if you are in the 2nd group and were gifted a bit more brains, GPA is totally irrelevant
Matters a lot for certain pe firms and hedge funds (have heard of 3.7 or 3.8 cutoffs for some of the top funds- not necessarily megafunds though as they interview more people), not as much for others.
what about a 3.5 vs 3.6? I had a 3.6 during SA recruiting and 3.6 is already kind of low so I'm a bit concerned, also a senior, also an incoming analyst
Keep the 3.6, that's seen as more solid vs 3.5 which is more on the cusp (full disclosure I had a 3.5 and got asked about the low gpa from headhunters, pe firms and banks theoughout SA, FT, headhunter, and PE recruiting, while I think my friends with 3.6s got asked that very rarely)
