GPA Variation after offer

Got a consulting offer with a certain GPA on a resume.  Recently found out my school doesn't replace a class if taken again, but this was after I applied.  Now that I have the offer I corrected the GPA on the verification form.  From HR's perspective, what do you think will happen.  I was told that replacement was a thing, but he was mistaken, and now I'm in an awful situation.  

I was internally referred by a senior partner, so Im not sure how much GPA actually played a part.  Still passed all the interviews.  Considered a tier 1 firm.
