Graduated without a full time offer
Hi guys I'm on the west coast, recently graduated from a non-target with a small alumni base in investment banking. I have a private equity and investment banking internship both boutique shops where I got a bit of experience to put on my resume. the response rate especially lows around 1/30. I was wondering what is like for folks out there.
reach out message is along the lines of
"my name is xxx from with a degree in xxxx from this uni. I'm reaching out to introduce myself and want to discuss my qualification with you regarding an analyst position at your firm. you have a great background in this field and would like to connect."
I don't know if you because of the hiring freeze, economy, or other areas I maybe trashing myself. I would be happy to learn about the current climate of recruiting for one looking and have already graduated.
Thanks, guys
Perhaps your response rate is so low because you straight up ask about a job in your cold email? You should not be doing this, any guide on this site would tell you that you should only mention/ask about open positions when actually on the phone or after the call. Just say that you are interested in what they do and want to learn more.
Oh your right, I thought i would be direct with them since they are hiring anyways and connect to not beat around the brush. I've play their game ;)
Thanks
Yea, what Digit said. People like to think you actually want to get to know them, not just use them for a job
they like to think, LMFAO.
Don't ask for a job in the cold email. A cold email is used to set up an informational interview where you learn about their firm for 15min or so. It's used to network and obviously they could lead to job opportunities but you shouldn't discuss that straight up in your email...
