Greetings, fellow Monkeys!
Hi, everyone. I've been a lurker (as most new-users are) for quite some time now. I've fallen in love with this website; there's an IMMENSE amount of information. Although most of my experience thus far has been fruitful, it does get discouraging at times.
I'm a 19 year old student at a semi-target university (semi-target for accounting) dual-majored in Accounting and Finance; I may declare a minor in Economics. I'm interested in working in IBD, but there's still much to learn. Growing up, I've always had a sincere passion for wealth management/investments. I got into day-trading the day that I turned 18, and I've been exploring other forms of investment ever since. At this point, nearing completion of my second year of university, I find myself scrambling daily for internship opportunities, as well as any other opportunity to network.
Any advice for me? Am I living a fantasy? My main concern: Should I be as hopeful as I seem?
Cheers!
Cheers indeed. Appears you need an internship in a field you think you want to be a part of. Investment banks have 'investing' divisions like asset management. Then there's worlds outside of finance. Keep your options open. But more importantly, get some work experience to decide if IBD is for you. Preferably at an investment bank as thats where you 'scramble' towards.
