With such competition for the few SA spots available, what did you expect going into a top firm? I assume you have more interviews to come, and just take this as a learning opportunity to get better for the next firm. Make sure that you wrote down all the questions you didn't know, so that you know them for next time. You cannot give firms any reasons not to hire you now, as they already have enough reasons.
My first rounds is on friday.
I actually only got 1 inteview, which was with them, but I currently have a solid internship right now although its in a different industry, so im not worried. Maybe with some luck, I make it to the 2nd round. Chanky, what office are you interviewing for? My advice to you is that make sure you can back ANYTHING you say, esp technical stuff......
I'm interviewing for Chicago.
I'm curious how you define hell. What kind of technicals did you receive?
Interviewers at the BBs or whatever they are called now are focusing much more on technicals this season to further weed out people. It definitely makes sense.
I wouldnt necessarily say it was hell because of the level of difficulty, it was just unexpected in the 1st round. All the analysts I spoke to at the bank said their 1st round was pure fit, so I prepared as such. It was like consulting type finance cases, but also difficult follow up questions here and there. I think the interviewer was just having a bad day, BTW. the person who interviewed me was a VP in the IBD, which I found odd, I thought it was going to be done by HR....oh well!!!cant continue ranting, its done!
Are you from a target? I still haven't heard back from Goldman yet
No im not, you? when did you interview with them? We might actually be in the same school (probably not) because my school is in D.C
If you didn't know that your Goldman ib interview wouldn't be with an HR person, then it seems like you weren't nearly prepared enough
I second that, Goldman's interviews this year were hard.
G.geico, if you spoke to 5 analysts and an MD at the bank and they told you HR, I guess you would assume otherwise, right?
