GS IBD Data Resource Analyst to IBD Analyst kind of urgent
Hey all,
I see a job being offered at Goldman Sachs for a Data Resource Analyst based out of Salt Lake City, I did some research but I am not finding much on exit opportunities from this job into traditional investment banking. I am a veteran looking to transition into investment banking and have the opportunity to interview for this job. I do not want to get stuck not being able to pursue my goal working in investment banking and wondering how this job feeds into traditional investment banking. I also don't want to pass on this opportunity and regret not taking it if it does feed well into other branches within Goldman Sachs. Does anyone have any more insight? I saw one thread on here about the job in the past but there was not much info on feeding into investment banking. Thank you in advance!
Bump
Don't do it. There are no exit ops for this group, it does not feed into investment banking, and you'll be doing mindless grunt work. See this thread: https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/gs-ib-data-resources-analyst
Thanks for the reply, so I read that thread it’s the only one i see on the topic. So the person on that link was working at a big 4 accounting firm and looking to switch. So people were saying it wasn’t for him because he had a good in already.
As someone that is not in the banking industry at all would it be a good starting point to network with other individuals within the company and work my way into investment banking? I am thinking taking the job would be worth networking my way in?
It most likely wouldn't help you network into an IB role, even though it's at GS. But then again you never know. (again not likely)
However its a job, at a good company. So if you need a job...
Goldman Sachs has a really good veteran program, I think its closed for the year. But: https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/gs-veteran-integration-program-v…

It’s a solid job. If you have no other opportunities take it and make something happen.
Wouldn't say no opportunities. But you have to spend 18 months on doing mindless shitty data-pulling job before you can apply internally. Think twice. Hope it is not too late.
