GS S&T

I have a GS S&T superday on Jan. 14 and have 2 quick questions:

1) Are FICC desks separated from other desks within S&T at GS? I feel like it is even harder to get into FICC at GS for some reason....is FICC separated from normal securities in GS?

2) What is the intern-FT conversion rate at GS? I have an offer from Citi that expires in 2 days (I'm saying no)...but I know their conversion rate is like 70%. Is GS tough because they hire more interns than they have spots for or is it because super competitive..probably both? Anyone know a number from GS for conversion to FT?

Citi's conversion rate is definitely higher; I am unsure what GS was last year but traditionally it's closer to 50%.

Yeah, not saying it should affect your decision necessarily, but GS is known for having a relatively low conversion rate (especially in S&T where it can be more volatile).

I've been told it was around 60-70% the past 2 years

They've probably got full sales coverage, and at least some trading on most products, but that's just speculation.

I know the BB I work at in Chicago has a full sales coverage, but I think most of the trading is futures/options because the CBOE is right down the street.

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

They have about 60 traders in the Chicago office (don't know about sales). More of a tight-nit, family atmosphere than in NY.

Thanks for the comments. Sounds like it's a great place to be.

Do you know what products are traded at the Chicago office?
