GSAM - Offer or No Offer: Please Help
Hi guys,
So here's my situation:
I interned with Goldman Sachs in their Asset Management division this summer (my sophomore year summer). When my internship ended, my manager sounded pretty satisfied and happy with my work and even asked me to come back for part-time work if the HR approved it. He asked me to indicate my interest to work with GSAM again next year (my junior year - summer) to the HR person. On that same day, I even spoke with the HR person . We'd a splendid conversation and she told she'll call me in 3 weeks' time to discuss "the next steps for an internship next year".
It's been almost eight weeks but she hasn't called me yet. I've tried to get in touch with her and she always replies that she'll call me soon but she never does. In fact, she once messaged me specially to tell me she'll call me "early next week" but that didn't happen. I'm getting a bit paranoid now. What should I do? Is she trying to ignore me? She seems to be really busy but I don't really know if she's not calling me on purpose or just because she has so much work.
Please help.
Thank you so much for your time.
I'm sure the recruiter isn't deliberately trying to ignore you. Remember, right now full-time recruiting is in full-swing, and that's where 100% of HR's attention is focused.
I interned at GS this past summer. Although I'm up for full-time now, a couple of sophomores I interned with were told they would be contacted ~November/December regarding invitations for another summer internship.
Call your manager, and try to get it pushed from the inside, if you are really worried. Otherwise, just give it time.
I think that HR is more focused on figuring out how layoffs will be happening rather than focusing on recruitment. Which is probably very stressful and time consuming.
But definitely call the manager, he should be able to help.
keep bugging her. it won't hurt you, i guarantee you.
Good luck
