Gucci Suits
Anyone have any experience with Gucci Suits? I'm not usually the type to care about the brand but my girlfriend won't get off my ass about getting me a suit for xmas. She threw out Gucci so I wanted to get some feed back. Cost isn't an issue, just the overall quality and stuff....thanks fellas
Pretty sure Gucci suits are made by Zegna... at least according to Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ermenegildo_Zegna
Probably something to look into more
Admittedly all I did was google Gucci Suits and then checked bluefly.com for reviews but thanks, I'll have to do some actual reading I guess
They are fine. The suits are made by Zenga (as are many others), so it is basically similar to a Zegna suit, with Gucci styling. Personally, I wouldn't pay retail for Gucci - for ~$2k I think there is better stuff out there, or at least stuff that I would rather have, but then again, I do already have a Gucci suit and it has served me well.
Not sure if this is still true, but Gucci suits tend to have 5 button cuffs (as opposed to 4), "Gucci" is printed on the buttons, and the side vents go a little higher than other jackets that I have seen.
Gucci is printed on the buttons?! fuck that I'm not a rapper...
Don't buy a Gucci Suit according to the style/suiting experts on this forum: http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=75294
"Though the suit is manufactured by Zegna, the fabric probably won't be spectacular and it may or may not be canvassed (some Gucci are, some are not). After all, I think Armani Collezioni is also made by Zegna, and most of them are fused and made of lackluster materials."
I would post something there and ask for suggestions
I know it's mostly for the "older" crowd but I personally prefer Canali.
I would go with Valentino before Gucci in that price range. Gucci and Prada are nice, and elegant, but not really "suit" shops. Both of those houses are known for their leather which is their forte.
Gucci is printed on the buttons in a subtle way - not on the front, but on the rim of the button. Not really that visible unless you look closely.
+1 for Valentino.
I have a Valentino suit i picked up for cheap on ebay (had it checked out by a tailor, verified) and after he did some alterations, it just feels perfect and is amazing quality.
Cant say anything about gucci tho.
Cheap quality and extremely tight fit - if you have any sort of muscle mass it is a difficult fit.
If you are in this price range - I would recommend looking @ Paul Smith, Theory (they make some sick off the rack custom options such as functional button holes, etc.), Ralph Lauren Black Label, Zegna and Versace (something with a normal lapel, color, etc.)
Wrong industry for a Gucci suit - for this money get a Zegna on sale
Gucci suits aren't worth it. For the money you can go with much better brands. Try Isaia, they make terrific suits for the money
Gucci suits are no good... If you're looking at about the same price range, try RL Black Label, or even Armani has cheaper ones i believe
+1 to ah2dy, RLBL is GREAT quality stuff. I forget who makes them. I'm not a big fan of armani, but if that floats your boat xP
Ever since Tom Ford left, Gucci has gone down hill in terms of men suits.
Personally wouldn't spend that type of coin on a suit at this juncture but I am a big fan of only buying a brand for their specialty. Por ejemplo, Gucci shoes...yes. Gucci clothes...no. For woman, Vera Wang wedding dress...yes. Vera Wang china...no.
Buy what they know.

Your girl is a keeper if she is willing to drop a couple benjamins on a Gucci suit for you
Agreed
RL Purple Label is Pristine. RL Black Label is always incredible. My entire wardrobe is RL Polo, Black Label, and like a few articles of Purple Label.
GO RL! Chics at the starbucks downstairs always drop some comments about my threads.
You should see what I do with my money on the weekends. you would use the caps button to amplify how big of a tool I am.
So the guy in the SIXTY-THREE HUNDRED DOLLAR suit is going to hold open the elevator for the guy who doesn't make that in 3 months. COME ON!
Khara 3alekon is absolutely right. All I wear is RLBL. Suit is cut to perfection, narrow and flattering. Makes you look taller. Full canvas construction, no fusing, pick-stitching, and nothing frilly or stupid that will call attention to you in a bad way (like the high-cut vents on a gucci suit or hack pockets, etc). Also, RLBL has understated fabrics. Wear it, and you'll be dressed well enough and luxurious enough not to feel funny in the board room, but never flashy enough to turn heads you don't want turned.
Yeah the Ralph Lauren is really nice. I also like Joseph Abboud (spelling?) they run Low $500+
Have you checked out Hugo Boss?
Second this. I own two Boss suits and they are great. Love the fit and cut of them.
With the the gator boots?
I'd soo rock Gucci suit with a giant dragon on the side and wearing a tshirt and sandals ...
1) don't listen to style forum. Those guys are in their own little world. You think we go ape shit over minutia.
2) Hugo are decent suits. One of my fav is a Hugo. Don't pay retail.
3) RLBL are nice, but delicate. Gently wear them.
4) have her buy you a Brooks brothers suit. Classic, well built and probably same price or cheaper.
Finance = conservative. Save her some money and have her get some Allen Edmond shoes to go with.
So here is the rule, if there is a gucci product you could buy, and your idea of looking good is not rapper / Narco-wife style, there is a 100% probability you will find something for the same price with a better quality and taste. With over 2k to spend you could also consider researching the fabrics and going bespoke.
I have a Gucci suit, it looks great. But agreed that it's overpriced..
So what did she get you?
Ya what the ef happened at the end of all this?
