Guidance for a current senior at a non-target
Hello everyone,
I'm currently on track to become a debt broker at a firm based in NYC. I ideally thought this was the right track for me to start in RE however I've quickly realized this area isn't for me. I'd love to get into an analyst program but I am aware that is a challenge especially since I'm looking to stay between Boston and NYC. I'm not well versed in CRE full-time recruitment process as well as how to go about networking. So any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated. Even some more detail on the recruitment process/season as well as how COVID will impact it would be great.
Well I definitely know how you are feeling. I was in your shoes. My advice to you would be to immediately apply to the well known analyst programs. A lot are still open - Wells Fargo, Citi, JPMorgan, BlackRock, Deutsche, etc. Deadlines are approaching soon so you should get on it ASAP. Analyst programs are great for advancing your career. After 2-2 years, you should have a comprehensive understanding of commercial real estate and can pivot to any role you’d like.
