H1B Ban extended until March 2021

Just a public service announcement for fellow international monkeys - The H1B visa freeze was extended by President Trump until March 31, 2021 citing “The effects of COVID-19 on the United States labor market and on the health of American communities is a matter of ongoing national concern, and the considerations present” in the previous proclamations “have not been eliminated,” as the reason. This was early in the year, in case someone wasn't up to date.

The severity depends on when the ban is lifted. If it continues to be extended during the next administration it means graduating foreign students will have to change their career plans, some of them are going into finance. I don't have specific data showing impact of H-1B workers in the finance industry.
