H2 Capital Partners???
Does anyone know much about them?
I just got an email from them wanting to set up a call to tell me about their shop, etc.
I can't find a company website or a lot of info on them. From what I can find they're a smallish RE hedge fund of some sort. Anyone familiar with them beyond that?
All I know is that they keep a very low profile but are a top notch shop, defo worth meeting! Worked with a guy who previously worked there and then exited to an elite fund.
i have a call set-up with them for Monday.
Was able to find some info on them. They're a public equity player w/ institutional and sovereign money. Seems interesting for sure, but no real specifics. For a shop w/ as much AUM as they have their internet footprint is nonexistent.
I am also looking for some information on them but are you sure they a public equity player? Because I thought they were a CRE/CMBS hedge fund. Thanks.
Their founder graduated from Wharton's MBA program. They hired several post MBA associates last year focused on real estate. When I was at school, they came in and presented a bullish investment case for Sears / Seritage Partners CMBS securities. H/2's founder is incredibly smart, but I don't have the same opinion of the other investors who pitched that deal to our class.
I am also interested in learning more about it. Is H2 Capital a hedge fund in which it invests in CMBS securities or is it a real estate private equity in which it does acquisitions of the real estate properties and do developments, etc? Any more information would be appreciated. Thanks.
Anyone going to their networking events in NYC this week/next week?
Will be going to one in Dallas.
Did some digging, they're a core open-end debt fund that invest on behalf of a lot of state retirement funds. I still haven't found a company website, though.
Not trying to burst bubbles but the dumbest person I have ever known professionally or personally went to H2 and is still there. It speaks volumes of the quality they recruit...not being rude but not a respected shop. You’d be better off working at 7-11.
They have a strong team in Europe!! They are doing a pretty interesting deal right now bought up/ lent debt of Four Seasons a Terra Firma LBO which has gone under and they are doing a debt for equity swap.
Very sharp guys.
I think H2 is a great firm! How did you find out about the opening? I've been trying to network with them.
Dallas group is weighted more towards servicing/asset management I believe
So I heard that they stopped doing CMBS stuff a couple years ago and have shifted more to stressed/distressed corporate credit (still focused on real estate related industries). They were huge in Nieman and JC Penney I think, some news articles on that. Would be great if anyone can confirm that though.
Can't really find much public info on them, but Form ADVs say they have in excess of $5bn in AUM and a handful of investment professionals so I assume pay must be nice?
Pay is in line with corporate PE / Hedge fund pay so $3-400 for associates. But they don’t want real estate or REIB people, they want restructuring bankers or hedge fund laterals. Spoke to a recruiter about them
That's interesting. So I had heard they were looking to hire a junior restructuring banker, but didn't realize the bias against RE and REIB...Any reason why that would be from your convo? Kind of seems weird right if they're doing real estate hedge fund related stuff like going long and short REITs and Neiman Marcus etc.?
Bumping this chain back up. Any new insights on these guys? More concrete info on comp, WLB, culture, etc.? I have a first round with them coming up. Thanks in advance for any insights!
