Harsh Feedback - Junior at State School

http://www.razume.com/documents/19356

Junior at non target and will intern at a boutique IB this summer (public finance). I want a shot at FT MM or BB interviews this fall, suggestions and criticism?

Other experience I could include:
- took this off: Student Activities Judicial Board, Delegate
- could get a position with our Finance Society (maybe VP Finance)
- could get a spot on our Associated Student Finance Board

Tense in your first experience Assist and Wrote... since its current shouldn't it be write?

The answer to your question is 1) network 2) get involved 3) beef up your resume 4) repeat -happypantsmcgee WSO is not your personal search function.

Once you put the boutique experience in your resume, I would definitely try to keep the non-profit experience. Thus, I would do a combination of the following to make room: shorten/delete the real estate thing, shorten the AM experience, or put the business leader award up in honors.

Thanks laudrup10, good recommendation, I was thinking of doing something similar. So...

Experience: - Boutique - Merrill - PWM - non-profit Organizations: - Treasurer - Leadership award

Should I try to get a position in our Finance Society or as a member of our AS Finance Board (multi-mil budget) and move the leadership award to the top? Or would that be a waste of effort better spent on networking?

  1. center your headers ie "experience" 2.your latest experience has relatively too few bullets while your Capital management one has relatively too many
  2. I would remove real estate experience once you have the new experience
  3. too few relevant coursework...maybe you'll have more next year

Good luck.

Well if having one of those leadership positions would help in your networking efforts, then absolutely. If you have time to do both without drastically affecting your networking then do it as well.

@englishtoffee - I will definitely lighten the Capital Management one and increase Merrill. I will also be getting rid of the real estate experience. However, i'd rather save space than add more relevant coursework and the left justified headers are a matter of preference. Thanks for your input, let me know any further thoughts.

@laudrup10 - Let me rephrase, it wouldn't really effect my networking, just was wondering if when sending out resumes if Finance Org. positions > Leadership Award under Organization header. Thanks for the help.
