Harsh Truths - Rolling current hybrid role into a desk role
In summary: want to switch at 30 to a fixed income/macro/special situations investment analyst role - already on the buy side, but background is super hybrid
Just turned 30 (7 yrs out of undergrad), currently at and have ~4yrs of experience from a major PE shop, role is on the direct investing/liquid side (Fixed Income) and run a fairly hybrid risk/finance/due diligence/ops group with my day-to-day role being more on the port risk/investment due diligence /assist PM with portfolio analysis side + managing the folks doing all the support work. Need to leave my current role to move back home.
Is this possible being that, other than 1 of the 7 years where I did some trading on the Sell Side, my roles are heavily support focused. If possible how do i stand out to recruiters and firms. If not possible and doesn't make sense I need to hear it. Have tried heavy networking and applying but mostly ghosted by folks who finish with me having great experience and a solid resume..which isnt helpful.
To cross off some of the prelim questions; i am ready to step down in title and salary, i am cool if i have to grab coffee for people for people younger than me as long as i can learn, needs to be in the tri-state area.
