Outside the office during a break, yes. Not inside. That seemed personal though, nothing to do with their jobs.
Some online training modules at banks actually ask this question, something along the lines of "...have you ever had a physical argument with a colleague due to a conflict.." - so assume this has happened at some offices, I guess? I have absolutely seen people threaten each other over work stuff.
No but Ive heard a story of an IBD VP at a bulge bracket who flipped on his junior bankers and wiped and knocked down all the office supplies on the desk (computers, keyboard/mouse, staplers, cords, etc.). This guy got canned from this employer, obviously, but many years later he made group head of his respective coverage group at a different BB
Surprised he was fired honestly
Didn't someone here get fired for getting in a fight with someone on their team @ a corporate Christmas party? lol
LOL yea my BB SA last year. We were working on a live deal. Lots of late nights that week and everyone was really exhausted/ also pissed. The VP that we were working for loves sucking up to MDs so he'd make analysts do additional work at 2 am even if it could easily be done the next day. Obviously, no one ever said anything to him. Friday. close to midnight, an analyst, let's call him Ben (okayish guy but the kind who loved bossing other analysts and interns around) comes up to me and another analyst let's call him Joe and says something along the lines of." thanks for the work guys. Appreciate it. When you're done, can you work on xyz?" Joe gets up, spills his coffee and starts yelling at the top of his voice at Ben "WTF DUDE WE LITERALLY DO THE SAME JOB. YOU THINK YOU ARE SOME BIG SHOT. YOU ARE FUCKING ANNOYING. GTFO." Ben (obviously very offended) gets defensive "I WASN'T TELLING YOU WHAT TO DO. I WAS JUST THANKING THE INTERN. STOP BEING AN ASSHOLE."They yelled at each other for a good 5 minutes. Lots of jabs. Enjoyed every second of it
Analyst at my BB threw a stapler at a VP. Floor went silent.
Did the vp deserve it?
Damn a stapler if thrown correctly can do a lot of damage
I've seen a coworker headbutt another. Guys still work together today.
