Has anyone heard of North Ridge Partners? Would like to know about the culture, learning opportunity, reputation and compensation.

My friend received an offer from North Ridge Partners as an Investment Banking Research Intern in Singapore. The job description seems to suggest it mainly entails screening companies and looking for M&A target ideas. Does anyone here have experience with this firm? What's the compensation, culture and reputation like?

More importantly, would an internship like this benefit my friend if he's looking towards working at a BB in Singapore after graduating (we're both sophomores)?

Decent boutique, typical kind of experience as other boutiques in SG, good starting point for someone aiming for BBs. In SG, getting BB offers will usually require at least 2 solid internships to get a decent shot, with at least a MM experience to be considered (at least for top 3), but I know places like CS that have a larger intern class consider candidates with just boutique experience as well. As for pay wise, FT should be in line with boutique base salaries in SG at about 6k on the high end but not too sure on this.

Would recommend taking an off-cycle/semester internship as well (this is the norm nowadays in SG, if you don't do this you'll tend to pale in comparison to your peers), less competition and much more learning opportunities, and many of the MMs and "better" boutiques have openings during the semester. Will add value to your resume and something to talk about during your interviews. Don't worry, I started in my sophomore year as well, got a boutique summer and MM off-cycle, and managed to get a BB offer, ultimately you just need to put the work in and really study your resume and technicals well. BB applications start around July onwards, exception for CS that just opened up, so you still have time, you can opt to take an off-cycle in the July period and still apply, will still be beneficial for your application. Best of luck!

Thank you so much! I'll definitely try my best to do another internship if I manage to find one. Btw do you think there's a limit to the number of leave of absences a student should take for internships? Or is it perfectly fine to take, say, 2-3 semesters of LOA to do internships to increase the chances of securing a BB?
