Have any of you taken a postgrad year?

I know I might get flamed for this but I'm a current high school senior curious if anyone here has taken a PG year. I'm considering taking one so I wonder what any of you have to say about it. I could just go straight to college but I think it's my best shot to get into a top school.

No flames, reasonable idea. Looking at your other post for context, it looks like you had a tough time moving schools and GPA took a hit. Totally understandable.

I don't think a PG year is going to really change the schools list you had on the other post, what schools are you trying to get into with the additional year? A higher SAT might help, as will some extra classes to bolster the GPA, but top 20 is honestly not going to happen even if you get perfect grades next year and a 1600.

Almost every school on your list if you do well, get involved, and start networking early you have a solid chance at MBB, with the optionality to explore elsewhere if you want to go to law school or into tech. Going to Harvard isn't everything, just pick a school you like and feel you'll succeed at and you should have every opportunity to do consulting or your other paths.
