Have I been dinged?

Sort of a weird situation. I cold-emailed some boutiques in my area and found one that offered me an interview. The interview went pretty well (this was about a month and a half ago) and the interviewer told me they would respond with in a week or two. Fast forward two weeks and no reply, so I send a follow up email. I end up getting an automatic reply from both of the people I spoke from that they were both out of the office for different amounts of time but during the same week. After a week with no reply after that email was sent (a full week after they were supposed to return), I sent another email asking about the status of the internship. Now it has been around a week and still no reply. Should I send one last follow up? Are they working on a deal and forgot about me? It is a small boutique and I felt pretty confident about the interview. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I would say you have probably been dinged.

I went through a similar situation, it was a no name boutique, interview seemed to go very well, got verbal confirmation from both that it was essentially a 'done deal' - nothing ended up coming of it.

I did the same thing as you, you email to follow up, but at the end of the day, for whatever reason (which you may never know) they dinged me.

I would definitely just continue on the process of finding an internship, if they eventually get back to you then great, if not, you haven't wasted any time waiting around. That is what I did and it turned out well for me.

Good luck, OP!

Hey OP,

It seems like you got dinged. This type of situation has happened to me before as well. I would recommend that you draft a polite final message thanking everyone for their time and move on.

Best of luck!
