Having some Excel issues
Working on a pretty big model and this is the first time I've come across this problem, I'm sure it's common but I can't figure it out.
Basically when I'm carrying over a formula, or even keying in the formula, say just a sum(), the value showing is just 0, when it should be something else. If I carry over a formula the value is just the same as the value where I carried the original formula over from. I'm not on manual calculate, and it doesn't happen everywhere just some select cells. I know it's probably with the formatting but I can't figure it out.
Ctrl + 1 and make sure formatting is consistent.
Are you using Ctrl + R and Ctrl + D? Anchoring cells?
I don't think it's any of that.
Iterations? Macros?
Very weird then. Data tables?
It is probably a macro of some kind if it is not formatting. If you go to the cells that are working and Copy, Paste Special Formating into the cells giving you trouble that should work. If not, Ctrl-1 and see if the cell is formatted as 'Text.' I have seen that as well.
bad circular reference?
Zeros appearing where they shouldn't is usually an iterations issue. Press Alt t o and select 'Formulas' from the column on the left. Make sure your iterations are selected.
Think it's a circular reference issue, not sure how to fix it since I didn't build any of it. Fun afternoon.
Hit F9. If you have your calculations set to manual, have to hit F9 to re-calculate circular models.
Are your formulas set to manual? If so F9 it.
Think he heard you the first time. :p
If it's not iterations it's a circular reference - usually you cap iterations @ 100, at least from what I've learned.
We were taught to cap at 1,000....
Beast,
Might be 1000, I forgot haven't changed settings in excel for so long :p
