What are your exit ops if you work in TMT for a MM IB?
Curious to know what some exit opportunities might look like if you go work in IB for a MM bank, specifically in TMT for firms such as Piper Sandler, Harris Williams, William Blair, or KeyBank. What might the career trajectory potentially look like? Would you recommend someone to do an MBA if they are currently an analyst at these firms but want to break into MF PE. Thanks in advance for the advice.
I'm not an expert but keybank and Blair are gonna have way different trajectories.
Could you elaborate a little for both? I am currently a student and have interviews/superdays coming up for these 4 firms and really want to know about the possible exit ops ahead of time. I am at a complete non-target so getting into even an MM would be a big deal for me.
Get the offers first then worry about exits
Thanks Intern in IB
You'll have your looks at MM/LMM/UMM PE firms, as well as the standard opportunities in corporate finance. Getting into a MF will be definitely a big challenge. There is a big difference between a top MM firm like Blair, and a solid but middle of the road firm like KeyBanc (make sure you do NOT use "KeyBank" unless you are interviewing for non-investment banking or non capital markets roles). You should not be going for an MBA with the hopes of breaking into PE; it's not a really common pathway. Most people break into PE and then go for their MBA in hopes of advancing in their career.
Would Key provide some MM PE looks?
Congrats on Keybanc!
