Not sure about biotech in particular, but street sentiment is that JPM has the best HC group. That being said, every deal, sector agnostic, is strongly contested by JPM, GS, MS, and BAML, and the groups at GS, MS, and BAML are pretty strong in HC as well and have landed some big deals over the last few years in life sciences and biotech. If you read up about recent pharma megablockbusters (Actavis-Allergan, Johnson & Johnson Acletion, Shire Baxalta, etc.) you will find that at least two of those four banks are on every single deal in the last decade. All of those groups kill it, so find the right firm within that elite BB class and the HC group won't disappoint.

Hi WSO,
I'm wondering which biotech/pharma CD/BD teams are generally most sought after by prospective employees? I would be very interested to hear if any are well known for providing good training, deal flow, perks, exit opportunities? Also would be great to hear about any that have a great workplace culture (perhaps Genentech?).
Thanks to all
Hi WWilson, no, I never sleep and so I can respond to any lonely threads (like this one) at all hours of the night. Impressive, I know ;-)
No promises, but maybe one of our professional members will share their wisdom: shobhitgupta123 SouthLoopMonkey jss09
Hope that helps.
Health Care - Best groups? (Originally Posted: 10/02/2006)
Everyone, please weigh in: Which firms have the best health care group?
are best banks...although CS did do the recent HCA LBO
have to throw Lazard in there.
Look at other groups, everyone I know in health care across the BB hate it.
Why do you say that? I worked in a healthcare group over the summer and found the industry quite interesting. Why do your friends think it is worse than Tech or Industrials?
hmm interesting...
CS was only a buy-side advisor to HCA along with MS.
JP, BofA, Citi and ML were the sell-side advisors. Bof A is on the left, Citi and ML are on the right and JP is somewhere in between, although technically on the right.
Could you explain what the "left, right" stuff means?
Ooops. Switched buyside and sellside above. Duh.
I wonder who initiated this transaction? HCA or the sponsors? Anyone know? I was assuming the sponsors made the initial move, but maybe HCA was 'exploring strategic alternatives' beforehand.
The bank on the left is in the driver's seat.
