Healthcare Consulting preparation small vs bigger firms - Advice
Hey guys, I am really interested in getting into healthcare consulting after finishing grad school and want to prepare myself as best as I can and also see if you all think I have a descent chance as i know it is very competitive.
I am interested either working for small firms like ECG, or bigger firms like Huron, Deloitte, etc in the Life Science/Healthcare Divisions.
I know the consulting firms usually focus heavy on Ivy league type MBA's and I currently have an undegrad degree in Health Information Mgt and Systems from Ohio State with a 3.5 GPA, I worked for 2 years as a Project Manager for hospital IT implementations at McKesson and now starting school full time pursuing my MPA in Health Policy and Mgt at NYU. I really didnt want to go for the MBA as I know the MPA in healthcare is going to be much more interesting and relevant for me. Is there anything I can do to improve my resume for consulting firms in the next 2 years while in grad school and overall do you all think I have a good chance with my credentials? Also with 2 years experience as a PM, would I be up for a Sr. Consultant job..or would I be expected to come in as an entry level consultant?
Any advice is apprecaited! thanks.
