HEC (International Finance) or LBS (Financial Analysis) ?
Hey guys! I'm having a hard time choosing between HEC Master in International Finance and LBS Master in Financial Analysis. After graduating I'd like to work in M&A in London possibly in a bb investment bank. I feel LBS would give me something more in terms of location, network and brand, but at the same time the program is very new while HEC's one is well established and recognised. Could you give me your opinion?
LBS - shows commitment of wanting to move to London (though this is not needed, especially if you have previous experience in London) and you'll still benefit from the brand even if the programme doesn't have the visibility yet.
It's a tough decision though.
Indeed, good comment. Anyway, at HEC you save a lot of money because living in nowhere is defo cheaper than living in London hehe
Applying to positions in London is a sufficient sign of willigness to move to London. I can't comment on LBS, but I do know the HEC MiF is very much tailored towards landing job/internship offers in London. During the first month of the course you'd be focusing entirely on crafting your application, doing mock interviews, etc.
I honestly think LBS and HEC are on par in the terms of brand value.
Agreed.
Except for non-EU prospective students & applicants. It is truly such a pain in the ass that getting to the targeted internship/job location for the school itself is a huge plus. So I guess LBS wins a point on that crucial logistics aspect.
HEC. I know 2 guys from my school who went there and landed PE gigs in Dubai.
Congratulations for gaining admission to both programs. It is an extremely fortunate position to be at.
Could we possibly benefit from a quick overview of your applicant profile (Stats: GPA, GMAT; undergraduate institution; work experience: internships; ECs) please?
And, could we also know which program you did choose in the end?
Thank you.
