What does it mean in an interview when asked “who’s the CEO of our bank” or “what’s our bank’s stock trading at”?
What is being examined by asking company specific questions? Is this a good or bad sign typically? Got asked this interviewing at a BB toward the end of the interview
Did you just drop your resume or did you spend at least 5 minutes to research the company before the interview. You should know that though as a Partner in IB.
Is this Citi? If so they ask stupid questions like that in my experience.
I'm pretty sure this question is just a myth and if you get asked it it's a sign you don't want to work there.
SB'd for the username.
Not sure why you think it would be a "good" or "bad" signal... it's obviously just meant to assess whether or not you did background research about the bank.
It's a stupid "gotcha" question used to weed you out. Truthfully, asking these questions indicate that the interviewer is lazy.
Yeah sure, "Partner in IB"
Wtf. I came to the interview having read the fucking SEC filings of my bank, these were hundreds of pages. (Yes, I really wanted this job).
Did you get the job?
Yeah
And I thought I had the lowest EQ on this site...
CS also asks this sort of question sometimes. yeah you should know the company but at the same time you should be more focused on the group/team you are interviewing with. When tf are you gonna work with the CEO. The students that know these questions are coming are prepared and look like they have done their research while those that don't (even if they have done extensive research in other areas of the company) get weeded out, it actually is just an information asymmetry problem, so its stupid. From now on, know the CEO/other relevant bank information before you interview. Of course, this doesn't help anyone else that doesn't read this.
anonymous posting has ruined this site.
Means they are insecure about themselves and think you are levering them to get the higher ranked BB offers.
Only Karens in HR ask these type of dumb af questions
