Hedging: Kaepernick and Texans Defense

I may be verbally abused by you guys for asking this question on WSO, but I figure there have to be a few Fantasy Football guys like myself out there.

Kaepernick has been off and on this season so far, he is a risky start this week vs. the Texans. I also have Hoyer on my team, who is doing better, but not proven.

Should I hedge starting Kaepernick by also starting the Texans as my defense? Or should I start the Panthers, who are coming off a bye week, vs. the Cardinals

The way I see it a best case Kaepernick scenario is still not even as good as Hoyer. Hoyer has been a TD machine and is matched up against the Bills who have been a TD allowing machine. I feel like SF vs. Tex will probably be more of a run game with SF given Kaepernicks mediocre performances vs. their run games strong performances and just from watching how Texas played Seattle last week.

It's definitely a hedge to put Texas against Kaep but I would go all in against Kaep and start Hoyer + Texas Defense.

Agreed with Hoyer

Solid start over Bills SF is going to a run game now, after Gore's success last game.

13 pts to Kap, 18 to Hoyer.

Frank Sinatra - "Alcohol may be man's worst enemy, but the bible says love your enemy."

I have Kaepernick as well, and I'd have to say start Hoyer. I fully believe Kap is going to improve later in the season, but he has no targets at the moment and Gore is a locomotive. I've also never been a fan of running a defense against my big point scorers. Sure, there's an argument that one of the two is guaranteed to do well, but the other is also virtually guaranteed to suffer. Plus I prefer to know who I'm rooting for.

Without a Doubt you start Hoyer...Bill's defense is ranked 24th overall, 18th against the pass and 3rd against the run. In this scenario Hoyer will have enough support from his running game with Ogbonnya healthier and practicing after a thigh injury so that the Bill's shitty defense can't focus all its attention on Hoyer.

Hoyer will be good for at least 2 TD passes, likely to TE Jordan Cameron who I got as a late value pick in the draft and hes damn near my top point scorer ... so I have vested interest in Hoyer having himself a day too.

In terms of your defense - start the Panthers coming off a bye-week --> Arizona is ranked 26th overall for offense and really only have 1 weapon in Larry Fitzgerald.
