Help! Any chance of getting a junior BB internship?! - Rising junior at target
Hi, I'm a rising junior attending one of the target schools.
I want to ask any kind of advice and opinions on the possibility of getting a junior internship at BB.
target school/gpa is 3.55/ econ major (concentratioon in finance/commerce)/ no prior finance internship but has been working as an analyst for my school's student run investment fund/ this summer got an offer from a small investment management/Asset Management firm in Hong Kong
I'm still in search of boutique or small regional IB firms for a summer internship. Do you think it is necessary? Should I still look for a better internship at this time, or just go with the hong kong am firm?
Do you think I have any chance of getting an IB or S&T junior internship at BB? Any advice please?
1) Not unless you really don't want to be in AM or Hong Kong.
2) For this summer? No. If you're really set on IB or S&T and don't want to take your current internship offer, then cold-call boutiques and prop shops -- they're your only hope.
Best of luck
Thanks yourdreamtheater for your comment! Actually I meant the intership for my junior summer, for the next summer. Any thoughts please?
Do the AM offer this summer. Is your school near a major city? If so, once your summer internship is over, cold-call local boutique banks and offer to work for free in the fall/spring. A lot of people do this for the summer, but very few for the fall, so it's far easier.
If you're not near any major cities at your school, just do a ton of networking and make sure to take a long weekend visit to NYC (once you have a lot of contacts) to meet up with people in person and you should be fine getting interviews.
Thanks! I got an offer from a boutique IB bank in new york yesterday. Do you think I should take the boutique IB internship instead of AM Hong Kong? The thing is I'm not sure if I will do a lot of "substantial" IB works at the IB firm.
Help please?
