Help CREDIT CHECK
Hi guys, dealing with a bit of an unforeseen issue here.
Background check came back on a 'starter' credit card from the US when I was 18. I cut up the card since now I'm living in the UK, I apparently owe $30 I didn't know I owed. I called Wells ASAP today and paid it off just to get rid of it. If I had known about this, I obviously would've paid it ages ago, but I did not get any information about this. I also filed a dispute with them because I haven't used the card.
I have one other CC which I have paid off in full every month, my credit score is 700+. No college loans or any other debt of any kind. Unfortunately this Wells error is a stupid mistake, and I'm still in the process of figuring out if it's my or their stupid mistake.
If, by chance, it happens to be an error on my end, I will lose the offer? I'm so worried and it'd be the dumbest thing ever to lose a BB offer for $30.
Understand the stress, but this will not be an issue on the background check. Especially now that you've paid it off. Keep the dispute going to see what happens, but this will not affect you for your job or any future credit applications due to size, how long ago, etc.
If you're not in obvious financial distress (massive debt, extremely low credit score) you won't have to worry about raising any red flags.
