Help deciding between offers!!!

I am a junior at a target school (not an ivy) looking for some advice on what job would best set myself up for FT BB recruiting in the fall. I have a decent GPA as an engineer (not great) and good experience before this, and I interview well I have been told.

Right now I am deciding between:

  1. Prestigious MM PE firm with over $500m in AUM and everyone that works there came from top groups elsewhere, it is just smaller in terms of # of people (think 15-20), which makes me worry that banks on the street might not have heard of it and discount it on my resume. No opportunity to join FT as they only recruit former banking/consulting analysts

  2. Investment banking at one of the best RE banks in US, but have been told it is much more real estate and less modeling intensive. Great opportunity to join FT afterwards

  3. Trading at a prestigious prop firm with great exposure to both pit and electronic trading (FT opportunities)

My goal is to get a FT offer from a BB in IBD to set myself up for either a career in banking or switch over to buyside late on down the road. what provides me with the best opportunity for FT recruting?

Thanks for the help

I would suggest opportunity #1. You will likely pick up a lot of the same analyst-like skills required for IBD and as Billy Ray alludes to, the PE internship may open the doors for a full-time buyside opportunity at another firm once your internship is over. Even if you are interested only in banking, a private equity internship should be a highlight on your resume.

However, If you like real estate banking or the real estate industry more broadly, then clearly go with #2.
